Subaru has won three Australia's Best Cars Awards, presented today by the
combined motoring organizations.
The Subaru Forester was again named Best Recreational Four Wheel Drive,
maintaining its status as one of the most awarded vehicles in Australian
automotive history.
The Impreza WRX regained its crown as Best Sports Car Under $57,000 - an
honour jointly shared with the Mazda RX8.
Impreza WRX last won an Australia's Best Cars award in 2001.
Impreza GX was today named Best Mid-Size Car Under $28,000.
Subaru recently announced a $2,000 price reduction on all naturally aspirated
Imprezas, meaning that the GX now starts from $23,990.
Cars were evaluated by the NRMA, RACV, RACQ, RAASA, RACWA, RACT and AANT
against a broad range of criteria including: on road performance, design, value
and functionality.
Subaru Australia General Manager, Nick Senior, said: "These awards cap an
amazing few weeks for Subaru, having won the Australian Rally Championship
manufacturers' and driver's titles, the World Rally Championship driver's title
and the Car of the Year Japan award.
"Our own research shows the motoring organizations are regarded as highly
objective in their assessment of vehicles, which makes these awards all the more
valuable to us.
"In an industry that is so competitive, it is satisfying that Forester has
maintained its winning edge over competitors.
"Equally, we have worked to make Impreza WRX, and the entire Subaru range,
even more secure, with the addition of DataDot security on every new Subaru
since early this year.
"The price change on the naturally aspirated Imprezas, including today's
winning GX, have also made them an even stronger package, with a tremendous
specification underpinned by Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive."
