The Ford Fairlane G220 scored impressively in The Courier-Mail
Queensland Car of the Year 2003 Awards announced this week.
The Fairlane G220 was a runaway winner of the Prestige category, scoring 13
out of a possible 18 votes.
"The Fairlane G220 performed excellently, backed up by outstanding interior
appointments and a drive train, a la BA Falcon, that is so refined you could be
forgiven for thinking you are driving a European prestige car," said
Courier-Mail Motoring writer Gordon Lomas.
One of the judges summed up the Fairlane G220 as being "much more quiet and
comfortable than the others".
Ford Australia President Geoff Polites said the Courier-Mail award was
recognition of the efforts of the team at Ford.
"Ford invented this category with the ZA Fairlane in 1967 and the BA Fairlane
is everything an Australian prestige car should be.
"The stylish new exterior, feature-laden interior, new engines and the superb
handling traits of the Control Blade IRS all combine to produce a winning
formula," Polites said.
The Courier-Mail Prestige Car of the Year award for the Fairlane G220 follows
hot on the heels of the Best Family Car, in Australia's Best Car Awards, for
Falcon XT.
