With its bold, sporting design, Peugeot has given the new 407 range a
high-tech specification that provides character, dynamism and real-world driving
pleasure in equal measure.
The new 407 takes the market segment into new territory, with its dynamically
engineered chassis featuring new double wishbone front suspension and multi-link
rear suspension, a comprehensive safety package and an advanced engine line up
that includes both refined and powerful petrol engines with new, cutting-edge
diesel technology.
'Purposeful' is the word that best describes the exterior styling of the 407.
The stylists have created a balance that is achieved through a long bonnet and a
compact rear. Viewed from any angle, the 407 has uncluttered, taut lines and
possesses a look that is truly unique in the market place.
And with prices starting from as little as $42,790, the 407 truly offers
exceptional value for money.
Regional Director for Australia and New Zealand, Mr. Philippe Mady from
Automobiles Peugeot, was pleased to announce the 407 pricing, “Peugeot has been
a success story in Australia especially in recent years, and I am sure that the
all new 407 will be instrumental in continuing this success.”
“The 407 was only launched in Europe in April, and we are excited that we
have been able to deliver this stunning car, which is in high demand world-wide,
to the Australian market in only 5 months time.”
Rob Dommerson, Managing Director of Peugeot Automobiles Australia, thanked
Philippe for the 'special delivery', “To be able to launch the 407 only a few
months after its debut is fantastic, and we are sure that the Australian public
will also be pleased to know we are one of the first markets outside Europe to
take delivery of this exceptional vehicle”.
“Peugeot 407 customers will also be pleased to learn that the outstanding
pricing announced today already reflects the fall in next year's duty rate. They
will be amongst the first to benefit from the reduction of the import tariffs
for imported cars, due to take effect on January 1, 2005. The move will prove
quite a windfall for those who will take delivery before the end of the year,
who therefore will not be disadvantaged in any way.”
Pricing and Specification
The Peugeot 407 offers outstanding value for money, with standard equipment
and safety levels that set a new benchmark in its class.
Items you would expect to be on the 'options list' are standard, and the 407
boasts equipment levels that compare very favourably to much more expensive
prestige vehicles.

Standard Equipment
Buyers will soon understand just how well equipped their 407 is, with a
glance through the accompanying Spec Sheet. Some of the highlights include:
Safety
Recently awarded 5 stars in the latest round of the ENCAP crash testing, the
407 is a very safe car. With 8 airbags standard across the range, as well
as new generation ESP, each model is also equipped with ABS with Electronic
Brake Force Distribution (EBFD) that also includes the automatic activation of
the hazard lights under emergency braking.
With pre-tensioning and force limiting front seatbelts, and three point
inertia reel seat belts in the rear, the 407 also features active front head
restraints and rear head restraints. Tyre pressure sensors even indicate to the
driver when a flat tyre is experienced, or tyre pressure is low.
Comfort and Convenience
The 407 is a car that goes to great lengths to look after its occupants. Just
some of the equipment fitted to make driving the 407 a pleasure is digital
climate control, cruise control, park distance control, remote central locking,
a trip computer and electric windows and mirrors.
The 407 also features integrated sun blinds for the rear windows, and a sun
blind for the rear screen. The 407 Touring features an innovative electric blind
to insulate the panoramic glass roof when closed.
Lighting and Visibility
A striking feature of the 407 is its large headlamps, which are automatically
switched on when an in-built light sensor detects the need for illumination,
whether it be driving through a tunnel or underground car park, or simply
nightfall.
Similarly, a rain sensor activates the windscreen wipers as required, varying
their speed for the intensity of the rain. All models feature front and rear fog
lights as standard.
Availability
The Peugeot 407 range will be unveiled to the public for the first time at
the Australian Motor Show in early October.
The first 407 sedans will be in Dealerships nationally from September 15
onwards, initially available as petrol only. 407 Touring will follow in
December, with diesel versions of both arriving in January 2005.
