Toyota is asking LandCruiser owners to share their tales of adventure in the
legendary off-roader.
The company has written to thousands of owners asking them to send in details
of personal experiences that personify the LandCruiser legend.
The best of those stories may be brought to life on the small screen in the
next LandCruiser advertising campaign.
Toyota Australia executive director of sales and marketing Dave Buttner said
the LandCruiser had built a reputation as the country’s most trusted 4WD over 45
years of outback service.
“The LandCruiser has a fantastic reputation with 4WD enthusiasts – it is
simply trusted to go places many other 4WDs would not,” Mr Buttner said.
“We’re looking for those special stories where a LandCruiser has proved its
worth in the uncompromising Australian outback. Stories about reliability,
durability and toughness,” he said.
LandCruiser was first built in Japan in 1951 and first sold in Australia in
1959. Since then, Australians have bought more than 450,000 of them.
World production of LandCruiser now exceeds four million - and Australia’s
share of more than 11 per cent of total volume makes it the largest LandCruiser
customer of all.
“LandCruiser has been the foundation on which Toyota Australia has built its
reputation as ‘king off the road’,” Mr Buttner said.
“It was the vehicle that helped to make Toyota the number one choice of rural
Australia,” he said.
Toyota is looking for stories of LandCruisers of all ages and models, from
the 1959 FJ25 that started it all to the 2004 LandCruiser 100 Series V8.
The best story will win a portable Waeco Coolmatic CDF-35 fridge valued at
$779.00 (RRP).
