Ford Australia will whip up a storm of excitement with a stellar cast of cars at the 2004 Australian International Motor Show.

Ford Performance Vehicles will headline the line-up as it unveils the final production version of its exciting turbocharged F6 Typhoon and MkII GT, GT-P and Pursuit Ute.

The F6 Typhoon is FPV's first turbocharged high performance car, powered by an intercooled 4.0-litre DOHC in-line six cylinder producing 270kW and a groundbreaking 550Nm of torque from just 2000 rpm - the highest torque output of any Australian built production engine.

Coinciding with the unveiling of the dynamic new F6 Typhoon, FPV will also reveal final details of its updated MkII range which showcases the inclusion of a new close-ratio Tremec T56 six-speed gearbox.

The 2004 Australian International Motor Show also highlights the public debut of the new Falcon MkII range, featuring the new six-speed manual transmission, exciting new colours and a host of creature comforts.

The Falcon XT sedan now comes with cruise control and automatic headlamps as standard, the Futura boasts electronically adjustable pedals and side airbags and the Fairmont now comes complete with reverse sensing system.

The legendary Ford ute also benefits from the MkII upgrade with automatic headlamps across the range and the heavy duty one-tonne suspension now standard on the XLS cab chassis version.

The sales chart topping Territory range will also be on show, boosted by the arrival of the mid-series TS model. Slotting between the TX and Ghia versions, the TS comes complete with dual zone climate control air-conditioning, alloy wheels and side curtain airbags to assist with greater head protection.

Light commercial buyers will take a keen interest in the updated PH Courier range which adds a host of customer-friendly features, two new interior trims and new colours.

A single-slot CD player is standard on all Courier GL and XL models while the range-topping XLT versions pick up the new audio system interface to go with the existing six stack CD player.

"These are exciting times at Ford and the Australian International Motor Show is an excellent opportunity to share the experience with thousands of devoted Ford fans," said Ford Australia President Tom Gorman.

"Our product line-up has never been stronger and the Australian International Motor Show gives patrons the ideal opportunity to inspect our exciting, passionate catalogue of vehicles."

Ford Falcon XR8 Pursuit 250 Ute

27 August, 2002
It has a big tray but can't carry much weight. It's a performance car but doesn't handle very well. So what do we make of Ford's limited edition 250kW load warrior?
