Lexus’ popular RX330 luxury sport vehicle now has the increased active safety of an intelligent adaptive headlamp system.

The system - a technology flow-down from flagship LS430 - better illuminates the intended line through corners.

It is part of a technical upgrade for RX330 Sports and Sports Luxury models. The AFS (Adaptive Front-Lighting System) is fitted to both RX330 models.

RX330’s increased specification also includes new five-spoke 18-inch alloy wheels (Lexus RX330 Sports has six-spoke 17-inch alloy wheels).

A state-of-the-art Bluetooth handsfree mobile phone system with controls on the steering wheel is now part of the Sports Luxury model specification.

The RX300 Sports Luxury also has the new-generation (Lexus 03) satellite navigation system, with improved features including changeable screen colours on the EMV (Electro Multi-Vision) screen.

Lexus’ adaptive headlamp system operates on RX330’s projector-type low beam lamps only.

The system is in addition to RX330’s existing auto-levelling headlamp technology.

This new-generation Lexus technology consists of a swivel actuator for each low beam lamp and a dedicated ECU to extract the required information from the steering angle sensor and the front-wheel speed sensors.

The articulation angle is specific to each lamp and to whether the vehicle is turning right or left.

The user-friendly Bluetooth wireless data system means compatible telephones can be linked to the EMV screen and/or steering wheel controls to provide hands-free calling.

Up to four compatible mobile telephones can be registered with the Bluetooth system.

Only one compatible telephone can be activated at any point in time - but it can be operated without removing the telephone from the owner's pocket/briefcase/handbag.

The system provides a multitude of functions via the EMV screen and/or the steering wheel telephone controls - for added safety and convenience.

The RX330 is Lexus’ highest selling model in Australia and the second highest-selling luxury SUV in the country. The newly-upgraded Lexus RX330 Sport has a rrp of $73,200 and the RX330 Luxury an rrp of $82,100.

RX330 also won the prestigious Australia’s Best Four Wheel Drive Award, 2003.
