Making its first public appearance at the Australian International Motor
Show, the 2005 Jazz has redesigned front and rear bumpers and grille to give the
three-model range a cleaner, more solid look.
The front and rear bumpers are restyled with sweeping contours that flare out
at each corner. The top-of-the-range VTi-S front bumper features a large lower
opening with a mesh grille and gill-like side strakes, while the rear bumper
sweeps upwards to emphasise the Jazz’s low front/high rear form.
The Jazz VTi-S bumpers have integrated body skirts for a cleaner, more
aggressive look and the 15” alloy wheels have a new 9-spoke design.
The headlights have been revised on all Jazz models with larger diameter
headlights, chrome-plated headlight rings and more integrated parking lights.
The indicator lenses are also more streamlined to maintain design continuity.
Changes to the Jazz interior have been made to further improve functionality
and enhance the driving experience, while giving the dash a sporty look and
feel. The new steering wheel on GLi and VTi features metallic trim, while the
VTi-S leather steering wheel has been redesigned. Jazz VTi and VTi-S have new
seat fabrics.
Jazz VTi and VTi-S models equipped with CVT-7 now have steering wheel mounted
paddles in place of buttons. The left hand paddle changes down and the right
hand paddle changes up the gears in true Formula 1 style, while a “7 Speed Mode”
button switches between sequential and automatic modes. The floor-mounted shift
lever surround now has a metallic finish.
The Jazz has a new fully-integrated CD tuner with metallic silver finish,
digital display, a large circular control switch for radio and CD selection and
a central knob for on/off and volume. Beneath the digital display are separate
toggle control switches.
The dash display on Jazz VTi and VTi-S gains self-illuminating
instrumentation, similar to the Accord Euro, Accord and Odyssey ranges. The
three main dials – with their silver outer trim – now appear darkened with the
ignition off and transform to a bright display when the door is unlocked. The
back-lit instruments have an even higher contrast when the ignition is switched
on with highly legible white numerals and red-illuminated needles and surround.
Keyless entry can be purchased as an option with air-conditioning for an
additional $2000 on Jazz GLi.
Honda will also offer one new colour with the 05 range – Sirius Blue
Metallic.
The updated Jazz range is currently on sale around Australia.
