Luck has been a lady to one very surprised South Australian woman at the
Australian International Motor Show in Sydney.
Megan Cox, a business administrator from the small South Australian town of
Cleve, won a chauffer-driven day-out in a Maserati sports car – confirming her
husband’s belief that her visit to the motor show would be lucky.
“I told Megan that I wanted her to come to the motor show with me because,
knowing her, she would win something,” said husband Paul.
Megan was the first woman to walk into the show after cumulative attendance
passed the 150,000 mark on Ladies Day, October 13th.
“I can’t believe it! Paul insisted we go to the show together and I only
agreed because he told me it was Ladies Day,” said Megan.
Megan and Paul received a chauffer-driven trip around Sydney’s sites,
including lunch at fashionable Circular Quay restaurant Wildfire.
The couple also received a prize pack of Maserati clothing and were amongst a
select few who were invited to sit in the motor show’s most expensive car – the
$1.8 million Maserati MC12.
Ladies Day attracted an estimated 3,000 additional women to the motor show,
according to organizers.
They were greeted by fashion parades, free massages and gift packs containing
cosmetics and chocolates.
“Women buy more than half of all new cars and have a major influence over the
decision about purchasing many of the others, so it made sense to do something
to appeal to them,” said motor show boss Peter Sturrock. The Australian
International Motor Show continues at the Darling Harbour Exhibition Centre
until Sunday, October 17.
