Kendall Holmes was part of the Lexus of Newcastle golf day winning team this year, but because his Lexus IS200 was out of warranty he did not qualify for the final.

So the 15-handicap golfer bought the latest Lexus RX330 Sports Luxury.

”I’d heard the trip [to Lexus Legends] was really good, and I like to do impulsive things,” he said.

“I was planning to buy another car sometime over the next six to 12 months, and after I drove the RX330 I thought, ‘There’s no point in looking at anything else.’”

But Mr Holmes had some explaining to do, and it began with his business partner.

“I started explaining why I’d just spent $80,000 on a new car without informing him.

“I said, ‘My kids are getting older, I need a bigger car...’ to which he replied, 'You won the Lexus Golf day, didn't you?'"

“My wife initially thought I was mad buying a new car to go on this golf trip, but she hasn’t been to Lexus Legends yet,” he said.

Kendall Holmes and his wife will join 66 other Lexus owners and their partners for the three-day Queensland event.

The weekend includes full hospitality as well as golfing, and competitors play alongside golf pros and celebrities including Shane Heal, Nathan Buckley and Lee Kernaghan.

Approximately 2,200 Australian Lexus owners have participated in complimentary Lexus golf days around the country this year.

The RX330 Sports Luxury is Lexus’ best selling vehicle and features an intelligent adaptive headlight system, reverse parking camera, and 10-speaker Mark Levinson stereo system.

It also has DVD based satellite navigation system, handsfree Bluetooth mobile phone connectivity, and 18-inch alloy wheels.

Lexus owners in warranty are eligible for the Encore owner privileges program.

Encore privileges include a Lexus loan car delivered during servicing, preferential booking and treatment at cultural centres nationally, and complimentary owner events including golf days at each dealership.
