Daihatsu achieved its best annual sales in Queensland in a decade in 2004,
increasing volume by 46.5 per cent compared with calendar year 2003.
Statistics released by independent industry statistician VFACTS show Daihatsu
sold 1,918 vehicles in Queensland in 2004.
This compares with full-year sales of 1,309 vehicles in 2003.
Daihatsu’s market share in Queensland finished nearly double the National
market share average for Daihatsu.
“Sirion was our stand-out performer, achieving 1,037 sales in 2004 compared
with 632 in 2003,” Simon Clarke, Daihatsu’s Queensland regional sales manager
said.
“That’s a healthy increase of 64.1 per cent over its 2003 performance.
“We have a new-generation Sirion model to look forward to in February,” Mr
Clarke said.
“Terios also made a strong contribution, with 583 sales in 2004 compared with
427 in 2003, a 36.5 per cent increase.”
Simon Clarke said Daihatsu’s Roadside Assist for all models, and
value-adding, appeared to contribute to its Queensland success in 2004.
“Daihatsu introduced air conditioning on Charade and Sirion, alloy wheels and
fog lights on Terios DX, and fog lights and sunroof on Terios SX.
“In addition, Daihatsu recently launched the re-powered Delta workhorse
tipper, with its new turbocharged common-rail diesel engine.”
Simon Clarke said four Brisbane metropolitan dealers and two Central
Queensland regional dealers produced significant gains for the company in 2004.
Four metro dealers achieved sales increases of 69 per cent or more –
Sci-Fleet Daihatsu at Kedron (89 per cent), Keystar Daihatsu at Redcliffe (83
per cent), Bayside Daihatsu at Cleveland (72 per cent) and Motorama Daihatsu at
Moorooka (69 per cent).
Sci-Fleet Daihatsu was the top selling Daihatsu dealer nationally.
The two leading volume regional dealers were BJ Car Sales at Rockhampton with
a 133 per cent sales increase in calendar year 2004 and Bundaberg Auto World
with a 103 per cent sales increase.”
