The largest gathering of Chryslers in the Southern Hemisphere will take place in
Albury, New South Wales, from March 18-20, when the thirteenth ‘Chryslers on the
Murray’ celebration takes place.
Organised by the Albury Wodonga Chrysler Club, this year’s annual event will
see 400 cars and over 2,000 enthusiasts gather to celebrate their common passion
for Chrysler vehicles.
The two day affair will attract enthusiasts from as far away as New Zealand
and Western Australia.
Each year a particular era of Chrysler product is spotlighted and this year’s
tribute will be given to the fire breathing U.S. muscle cars of the sixties and
early seventies.
Approximately fifty muscle cars will be in attendance, including Dodge
Chargers and Challengers, Plymouths, Baracudas and Road Runners - some of these
vehicles powered by the revered 426 HEMI® engine.
The weekend’s activities will include a Saturday super cruise to Tallangatta,
with a spectacular U.S. muscle car photo shoot and seminar at the renowned
Ettamogah Pub.
A show ‘n shine event will take place on Sunday March 20, attracting around
10,000 spectators to Oddies Creek Reserve on the banks of the Murray River.
Chrysler, Dodge, Plymouth and DeSoto manufactured vehicles of all ages will
attend the show.
The exciting HEMI powered V8 Chrysler 300C, which goes on sale in Australia
late 2005, will also be on display on the Sunday.
“Chryslers on the Murray is just an amazing spectacle,” said Rod Taylor,
member of the show committee.
“It all makes for a relaxing weekend enjoying great scenery, good people and
classic Chrysler cars,” he added.
A swap meet also takes place on the Saturday and Sunday at Oddies Creek
Reserve.
Spectator entry to all events is free.
