Screen Time for Jaguar's Leaper

Brevity, clarity, creativity and individuality are a few of the essential
qualities common to the 10 films selected as finalists in the Jaguar Redux short
film competition. Each short film is limited to three minutes and must include a
Jaguar car or the famous Jaguar Leaper on the bonnet.
Official entry to the Jaguar Redux short film competition closed in late
April. Now begins the judging process as each finalist film will be closely
viewed and scored by a judging panel of eight experts.
Jaguar has recruited experts in the fields of film, television and
broadcasting with years of industry experience locally and internationally to
assist in selecting the winner of the Jaguar Redux short film competition.
- Bill Bennett: During the past 20 years Bill has made 12 features
films and many documentaries including Kiss or Kill. His films have been
nominated for a total of 40 Australian Film Institute Awards, winning 12, as
well as two Logies.
- Richard Donner: His first major feature was The Omen in 1976,
which was a box office hit. Richard has produced or directed hundreds of films
including Lethal Weapon, Lost Boys, Superman and
Conspiracy Theory. Richard is currently producing X-Men
III.
- Mitch McManus: Mitch established Firecracker Films in 1994 and has
since directed many spots including TV commercials for Arnotts, AFL and
McDonalds. Mitch is the first Australian and youngest winner of a US/World
Promax Gold Medal Award for broadcast promotion in 1989.
- Peter Millynn: Peter is a production executive with the Australian
Film, Television and Radio School.
- Michael Mohamad: Michael is senior vice president, marketing and
creative at The History Channel, New York, USA. He is a recent winner of the PMA
(Promotional Marketing Association of the USA) Supper Reggie prize for the best
promotional program worldwide, 'Save our history'.
- Doug Mulray: Doug's public prominence soared during the 80s on his
hot air expelled on Sydney's 2MMM radio. In addition to his success on radio,
Doug has made regular forays into television as a host and panellist.
- Julia Overton: Julia is a project manager with the Australian Film
Commission. Her credits as film producer include Fistful of Flies, which
was invited to Venice and Sundance film festivals; Cut with Molly Ringwald
and Kylie Minogue, and Until the End of the World with write Peter
Carey and writer/director Wim Wenders.
- Jon Rohde: Jon is head of design at the Australian Film, Television
and Radio School.
The Jaguar Redux short film competition is an incredible opportunity to fast
track an aspiring filmmaker's career. On offer to the winner of the Jaguar Redux
short film competition is:
- A day on set of The Alice, a new Channel 9 drama series. The prize
will include flights from a capital city in Australia to Alice Springs and one
night's accommodation.
- First-hand experience on a project with Firecracker Films, a Sydney-based
commercial production company specialising in sport and entertainment.
Experience could include time in pre-production, shooting, post-production
and/or editing.
- Other valuable prizes already announced: $2500 cash, promotion of winner on
www.jaguar.com.au, two weeks work
experience at the TV production department of Jaguar's advertising agency, test
drive of a Jaguar for the weekend and much more.
The winner of the Jaguar Redux short film competition will be announced on
May 31st. Meanwhile, the 10 short films selected as finalists will be viewable
at www.JaguarRedux.com.au from May
