The new seven-seat Jeep® Commander, which will arrive in Australia for sale this
May, has received the U.S. government's highest rating for frontal-impact crash
protection from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
The Jeep Commander's five-star rating for frontal crash protection joins a
string of new Chrysler Group products to achieve the top safety rating in the
government frontal crash tests.
"Chrysler Group is offering Jeep Commander customers peace of mind through
more standard safety equipment and the application of a broad range of
engineering technologies," said Gerry Jenkins, managing director, Chrysler Group
Australia.
"The inherent stability and security designed in to all Chrysler Group
vehicles is enhanced by both passive and active safety systems, whether driving
on- or off-road," he said.
The new Jeep Commander includes the highest level of standard safety and
security technology and features offered on a Chrysler Group vehicle.
Standard equipment includes Electronic Stability Program, Electronic Roll
Mitigation, Brake Assist, Anti-lock Brakes, 4-Wheel Brake Traction Control
System, multi-stage driver and front passenger airbags and three-row
side-curtain air bags. These are only some of the many safety and security
features —designed in from the beginning — that provide the Jeep Commander with
the ability to ‘go anywhere, do anything’ safely and securely.
The Jeep Commander is built at the Magna Steyr Manufacturing Facility in
Graz, Austria, on the same production line as the award-winning Jeep Grand
Cherokee.
The two latest products introduced by the Chrysler Group, the Chrysler 300C
and Jeep Grand Cherokee, also earned a five-star rating for frontal crash
protection.
