Don your beanie, crank up the heater, or wait for the full blast of global
warming. It’s tops off for winter at Shannons upcoming Sydney auction on May 15.
Ten of the 26 vehicles going under the hammer are full convertible models,
while four others have ‘targa’ tops or sunroofs.
The top softie of the auction is a stunning 1958 Chevrolet Corvette roadster,
finished in classic red over white that Shannons expect to sell in the
$90,000-$105,000 range.
The vehicle was the subject of a complete restoration between 2002 and 2004,
including a full mechanical rebuild, new paint and chrome. The hardtop was also
refurbished and the interior re-trimmed in original style. Since completion the
Corvette has taken out numerous awards, with its seven trophies included in the
sale.
