Honda defied the market downturn with the company’s record July sales figure of
5,608 vehicles putting it into fourth place for the month.
The record result sees Honda’s monthly market share climb to 7.2 per cent and
year-to-date market share rise to 5.7 per cent.
The previous July record of 3,577 units was set last year.
Leading the way for Honda were the small and light cars Civic (1,705) and the
Jazz (899), followed by Euro (924), CR-V (758) and the newly-facelifted Accord
(745).
Also contributing to the record result was the second-placed people-mover
Odyssey (376), and the fuel-efficient Civic Hybrid (101).
“With fuel prices still uppermost in consumers’ minds, it’s no surprise that
they are turning to the more fuel-efficient vehicles offered by Honda,” said
Honda Australia Senior Director Lindsay Smalley.
“The Honda range has the winning combination of good fuel-economy,
outstanding value for money, high build quality and a fun-to-drive personality.”
