Saab is expanding its product offering in Australia with the addition of the
highly anticipated diesel range of 9-3 TiD vehicles.
The common rail 1.9 litre turbo diesel engine joins the Saab Australia
line-up in January.
Saab will initially offer diesel variants of 9-3 Sport Sedan and SportCombi,
but is also considering the introduction of a diesel version of its market
leading 9-3 Convertible.
Euro 4 compliant, the DOHC 1.9TiD engine offers exceptional performance and
fuel efficiency, producing 110 kW and an impressive 320 Nm of torque.
In-gear acceleration, the most important feature for everyday driving,
highlights the real strength of the 1.9TiD with performance comparable to Saab’s
154 kW petrol powered Vector model.
Common rail technology provides consistently high injection nozzle pressures
of 1,600 bar, allowing small multiple injections of fuel, between two and five,
to release as much energy as possible from a given amount of fuel.
The extremely efficient combustion process improves fuel consumption,
emissions and power and helps iron out the strong vibrations traditionally
associated with compression ignition.
Saab 9-3 TiD models will be available with six-speed automatic and manual
transmissions.
Full vehicle specifications, features and pricing will be available in
January, but Saab diesel models will be extremely competitively priced and well
equipped.
