Subaru Australia has signed its biggest ever fleet deal, to supply 1500 vehicles
to the Europcar Asia Pacific rental company.
Subaru will supply 700 Forester Xs, 500 Outbacks and 300 Impreza 2.0i sedans
under the Australia-wide contract.
Safety, drivability and retained value, underpinned by Subaru’s full-time
All-Wheel Drive, were among the key factors in Europcar’s decision.
Eoin MacNeill, General Manager of Europcar, said: “Our customers are looking
for alternatives to the big six cylinder cars and at the same time are seeking
safety and comfort. As a premium brand, Subaru dovetails very nicely with our
requirements.
“We have a two pronged approach of appealing to leisure customers looking for
load carrying space and business people wanting economy, with safety a prime a
consideration for both sets. Again, Subaru scores on all points.”
Mr MacNeill said the Subaru cars would represent a significant part of
Europcar’s 8500-strong Australian fleet in the coming months.
Europcar is Australia’s third-largest rental car company. It also operates
Europe’s largest vehicle rental fleet.
Subaru Managing Director, Nick Senior, said: “We’re delighted to have won
this contract from Europcar.
“It’s a great opportunity to have our cars driven by many thousands of people
who may not normally have access to a Subaru, but who could be potential
customers.
“It could provide scores of new converts to our All-Wheel Drive technology.”
Andrew Sinclair, Subaru’s National Fleet and Corporate Sales Manager, said
Subaru was winning increasing numbers of fleet and “user chooser” customers with
reliability, durability, retained value and engineering among other persuading
factors.
