Mazda Australia topped 5000 retail sales last month, maintaining fourth place in
the Australian market and its place as the top-selling importer, according to
VFACTS figures released today.
Last month Mazda sold 5011 vehicles with the facelifted Mazda3 range
contributing 2771 to the company’s August sales performance.
Mazda3 was the second best seller in the Australia’s most popular market, the
small car segment.
Year-to-date Mazda Australia, with 42,720 sales is 6260 retails ahead of its
closest full-line import rival and has 6.7 per cent market share.
Last month the MX-5 roadster topped the sub $80,000 Sports market for the
sixth time this year, while the Mazda6 sold 869 and the B Series 672 vehicles.
Mazda Australia managing director, Doug Dickson, said: “It’s been a long wait
but last month’s sales figures reflect better supply of the updated Mazda3
range. The upgrades we have made to safety, fuel economy and refinement have
been very well received by existing and new Mazda customers.
“There is no doubt that market conditions are getting tougher but with new
Mazda6 diesel, the crossover CX-7 SUV and the BT-50 utility all arriving in the
coming months we are looking forward to a strong end to the year”.
Mazda Australia has revised its 2006 overall market estimate from 975,000 to
965,000 vehicles. However, the company remains on track for a new sales record
of 67,000 retails.
