Even Santa won’t be able to turn an M6 into the fastest 507-horse open sleigh in
the west this year, because the hot-performing V10 powered BMW M6 Convertible is
already sold out across the world.
The sole exception is a special edition of 50 BMW Individual model M6
Convertibles specified exclusively by BMW in North America for the legendary
Neiman Marcus Christmas Book.
The luxury superfast convertible comes dressed to impress with a custom Ruby
Black exterior combined with Piano Black interior trims, power sport seats
wrapped in supple custom made Gold Brown BMW Individual Merino leather, finished
off with M-radial spoke alloy wheels.
A further innovative BMW Individual feature is an incredible 11-speaker
Surround Sound stereo.
BMW Individual allows customers to build an exclusive, personalised vehicle
that matches their most exquisite requirements. This covers materials, finishes,
colours and equipment, and stretches as far as their imagination can take them.
Australian BMW customers have long been supportive of the BMW Individual
concept, and for 2007 delivery the BMW Individual M6 Convertible - as designed
for the Neiman Marcus Christmas Book - can be specified for an Australian buyer,
if requested.
The BMW M6 Convertible has just been launched in Europe. The car will be
revealed in Australia by Chris Bangle, Chief Designer of the BMW Group, at the
Australian International Motor Show at Darling Harbour on 26 October.
Australians keen for a taste of the fastest accelerating convertible BMW have
already snapped up the 2006 allocation of six M6 Convertibles, which arrive in
December, just in time for Christmas.
The M6 Convertible is powered by the same 507 bhp Formula 1 inspired V10
5.0-litre engine as fitted to the M5 Sedan and M6 Coupé. In May, this engine was
awarded the prestigious International Engine of the Year accolade for the second
year in a row by a world-wide panel of eminent motoring judges.
The BMW M6 Convertible features further motorsport-bred technology such as
the M Variable Differential Lock, and Electronic Damping Control as well as
precision handling and steering.
The high revving V10 redlines at 8,250 rpm and is mated to a seven-speed
Sequential Manual Transmission with Drivelogic, which can launch the car from
0-100 km/h in just 4.8 exhilarating seconds.
The M6 Convertible goes on sale in Australia on 26 October, priced from
$295,000, with the first customer deliveries just prior to Christmas.
BMW Individual supplies 20,000 customers a year with made-to-measure cars,
including over 700 in Australia last year, that embody the fine art of discrete
luxury.
The result is exclusive vehicles for contemporary people who enjoy the finer
things in life and get what they want without compromise.
“This is an exclusive target group that demands special technical and design
solutions,” says Tom Noble, General Manager, Marketing at BMW Group Australia.
“So far, this customer group has been dominated by men, but it is women who
go for the braver colours.
“In addition to the existing collection of materials, there are no limits on
special wishes.
“But above all, there is the desire to achieve a successful combination of
individual, exclusive standards and absolute technical perfection,” says Tom.
Note to editors: Eager Neiman Marcus customers can only place an order for
the special M6 Convertible from October 18, with delivery in Europe in early
2007. Buyers will pick up their cars after a factory tour in Munich and enjoy
four days driving them on a gourmet holiday in the Bavarian countryside.
