Melbourne – The 2006 Silver Ribbon EXPOSURE Gala for the Ovarian Cancer
Research Foundation was held last Friday night, November 24. Starring among the
auction items was a new Mercedes-Benz B-Class.
Hosted by Catriona Rowntree, the 2006 EXPOSURE Gala successfully raised more
than $150,000 with all proceeds directed towards the Ovarian Cancer Research
Foundation.
An iconic event on the Melbourne social calendar, guests included Tamsyn
Lewis, Anthony Koutoufides and Andrew Gaze from Dancing with the Stars along
with singer Kate Ceberano.
Held at the Melbourne Museum, the gala evening saw guest auctioneer, Anthony
Woodley, take bids for the star fundraising item: a new Mercedes-Benz B 200,
which sold for a generous sum.
This year marked the third year Mercedes-Benz has supported the event, having
previously donated a C-Class Sports Coupé and an A 170 hatch.
“Mercedes-Benz is delighted to support this wonderful event again,” said
Horst von Sanden, managing director for Mercedes Car Group in Australia.
“We are proud to assist in raising valuable research funds and be a part of
the fight against a disease that claims the lives of so many women each year.”
The B 200 auctioned on Saturday night has been a popular seller since its
Australian market debut last year.
The B-Class sports tourer range is available with a 4-cylinder turbo diesel
engine (in the B 180 CDI), 4-cylinder petrol (B 200) and the range-topping B 200
Turbo, boasting 142 kW of power.
All three models in the B-Class range are comprehensively equipped with a
host of features that maximise safety, comfort and driving performance. Some of
these are adaptive front airbags, side airbags, windowbags, Electronic Stability
Programme (ESP), Brake Assist (BAS), NECK-PRO front head restraints, air
conditioning, power windows, power steering, remote central locking and a
full-sized spare wheel, to name but a few items from the standard equipment
catalogue for the B-Class.
