Subaru achieved an eleventh consecutive year of sales growth in 2006, retailing
37,520 vehicles, according to official VFACTS figures released today.
December sales of 3236 Subarus were 13.8 per cent above the previous
December, helping the brand to a record annual market share of 3.9 per cent and
a monthly share of 4.2 per cent.
Subaru sales for 2006 were 4.1 per cent ahead in a market down 2.6 per cent
overall.
Subaru’s best seller was Forester, with 13,010 – its fourth consecutive year
of five-figure sales
December sales of 1247 Foresters also made it the month’s best-selling SUV
compact car, with 18.7 per cent of the segment. Annual Forester sales were up
5.6 per cent.
Impreza also cracked five figures, with 10,276 sales, up 3.4 per cent for the
year. December sales of 968 Imprezas were up 31.2 per cent.
Liberty sales of 7797 were the best since 1992.
Sales of 6165 Outbacks combined with Forester to again make Subaru dominant
in the SUV Compact segment, with a 24.7 per cent market share last year.
After only two full months of sales, Tribeca sold 272 since launch.
Subaru Managing Director Nick Senior said: “The engineering, safety and
retained value of our vehicles continues to drive customer interest in Subaru.
“We will strive to exceed their expectations this year with a variety of
developments that will again underline our whole-of-life value.”
