Suzuki Motor Corporation has unveiled a movie-theatre-themed XL7 concept, Flix,
at the 2007 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit.
Based on the all-new 2007 Suzuki XL7, the silver-screen-inspired concept
vehicle has been coined Flix because it offers film and entertainment
enthusiasts the ultimate mobile movie experience.
The exterior of the Suzuki Flix highlights the redesigned body of the all-new
XL7, and features an ultra-rich, modern exterior in midnight black paint with
platinum accents and deep crimson "theatre red" perimeter LED linear lighting.
While the Flix's exterior is striking, it is its in-vehicle movie system that
is the standout feature of the concept.
The clamshell roof can be opened, revealing a maximum-size moonroof that
services as a 40-inch movie screen. Additionally, the front roof panel vents
give way to a high-density digital projection system.
The Flix projection system can be positioned to display movies nearly
anywhere. For the more traditional drive-in movie enthusiast, the projector can
display movies onto the side of a building, a billboard or almost any wall.
The Flix interior resembles a contemporary private screening room with plush
materials evoking elegance and sophistication.
The interior features four individual bucket seats that pivot 180 degrees to
view the elevated giant screen and red door/floor strip lighting to further
enhance the movie theatre feel.
The Flix is also decked out with state-of-the-art audio-visual technology;
equipped with a next-generation high-definition DVD player with integrated hard
drive for maximum AV storage and a professional THX/SDS-theatre quality sound
system including pivoting quarter window speakers.
Flix was one of two activity-orientated concepts unveiled by Suzuki at NAIAS
based on their XL7 series. The second concept car, BaseCamp, was designed to
offer cutting-edge design and technology to fulfil the needs of outdoor
adventure enthusiasts.
These two concept vehicles are part of the "Suzuki LIVE Series", a line of
brand-dedicated concept vehicles specially designed for life enthusiasts,
adventurers and thrill-seekers.
Other vehicles in the 2007 Suzuki LIVE Series include the Zuk for motorcycle
and racing enthusiasts, and SXBox for avid gamers. The Suzuki LIVE Series of
concept cars are currently on display at various auto shows and lifestyle events
around the USA.
