Hyundai’s Elantra sedan, already one of the stand-out styled small-medium cars on the market, can now be dressed to impress even more with a new body kit developed by Hyundai Accessories.

The kit comprises a front bib apron spoiler, side skirts and a rear skirt, plus a chrome extension to the tailpipe.

The front spoiler integrates attractively with the shaping of the front fog lights and lower air intake grille while the rear spoiler has a central, metallic toned central section which adds a purposeful symmetry to the car’s rear aspect. The overall effect is a lower and sportier look without having to lower the car’s ride height and compromise comfort.

The recommended retail price of these five components as a set is $1220 including GST plus the Hyundai dealer’s price for fitting and painting.

Complementing the body kit and separately available is a neat, low riser boot lid wing with an integrated LED strip brake light. The wing assembly is $398 rrp plus dealer fitting and painting.

All body kit elements and the rear wing are fabricated in fibreglass, which has proven to be more durable than ABS plastic.

Also available from Hyundai Accessories and custom made in Australia for Elantra are new

17”x 7” alloy wheels (pictured) at $1412 rrp for a set of four, for which Hyundai dealers will match appropriate 17” tyres.

For Elantra SX and SLX , a set of the same design alloy wheel is also available in a 15”x 6” version for $1028 rrp. They take the standard 185/65 R15 tyres fitted to these model variants.

Hyundai Accessories, formerly known as Astrel Accessories, has a full range of extra goodies for Elantra, from a $13 auxiliary cable to plug an iPod or other portable music player into the standard dash jack to play through the car’s speakers, to a fully electrically operated tilt/slide sunroof.

Other catalog items include roof and bike racks, alloy sports pedals, a 15-litre car fridge, a tow bar kit, car top storage boxes and reverse sensors.

Factory options include the Protectz Pack for Elantra SLX which adds ESP (Electronic Stability Program) and TCS (Traction Control System) for an extra $990 rrp and for the Elantra SX adds ESP, TCS and curtain and front-side thorax airbags for $1790 rrp.

Elantra SX manual with Protectz Pack at $21,780 rrp is the market’s second most affordable five-seat car with ESP after Getz 1.6 with Protectz at $16,280rrp.
