Australian transport magnate, Lindsay Fox, has made a
sizeable investment in the Audi brand in Melbourne with the recent purchase of
Audi Centre Brighton.
Acknowledging the strength of the brand and its bright future,
a development group, headed by Fox, purchased Audi’s current Brighton dealership
on Brighton Road at Elsternwick, and has announced plans to build a brand new
facility in the area.
Timing and details of the new development are yet to be
announced, however plans for the facility include a new Audi Terminal building –
the first for the state of Victoria.
Audi’s managing director, Joerg Hofmann, says the investment
being made by Lindsay Fox is a clear indication of the continued growth of the
Audi brand here.
“Audi is a brand going from strength to strength in Australia.
With consecutive years of record growth in 2005 (30%) and 2006 (20%), Audi is
clearly the fastest-growing European luxury brand. Already 41% up on May sales
year-to-date, we are confident of another record year.”
“With Lindsay’s investment in our Melbourne dealer network, we
can only become stronger in this important market. Audi is a successful brand
for successful people and this latest milestone is another indication of a
bright future for Audi in Australia,” Mr Hofmann said.
Effective 1 July 2007, the Fox Group, with new Dealer
Principal, Geoff Parker, will take over the management of the current facility.
Parker has extensive premium brand experience, having worked for both the Audi
and BMW retail network.
“Existing customers of Audi Centre Brighton can rest-assured
that their investment is in very capable hands with Geoff Parker at the helm.
Our goal is to continually increase our high level of customer service,” Mr
Hofmann added.
Audi Centre Brighton is located at 182 Brighton Rd,
Elsternwick VIC 3185. Telephone 03 9532 8888.
