The Incredible New MINI Cooper S has emerged at the head of the field after a
probing whole-of-life-ownership examination by WHEELS Magazine.
The MINI Cooper S fended off a host of rivals to clinch victory not only in
its own segment, but thanks to a potential retained value of 73.8 percent after
three years of magical ownership, the best retained value of all vehicles WHEELS
examined, across all categories.
Naturally MINI is excited to have scored so highly in all other categories
taken into account by WHEELS, and the retained value story is not a new one for
MINI.
“Retained value is just one of many MINI strengths, such as fuel economy,
reliability and low frequency servicing, all of which keep ownership costs low,”
said Justin Hocevar, National Manager, MINI.
“In addition, MINI’s 5-Star NCAP safety rating backs up the fun-to-drive
element, and that’s before you factor in MINI’s striking good looks.”
“A MINI has so much personality, our owners forge strong emotional bonds with
their car. In many cases they would consider their MINI a member of the
family.”
“Typically owners have been having such a good time behind the wheel, they
have been loathe to trade a car they have specified themselves.”
“With the arrival of the new generation MINI, complete with turbo-charged
range topping 128 kW MINI Cooper S models, there has been an increase in
pre-loved MINI activity.”
“Our dealers have been telling us for some time that the queue of eager
would-be pre-loved MINI owners was becoming restive. Thanks to the huge wave of
interest in, and sales of, the incredible new MINI, and our very high loyalty
rate, there are now more pre-loved MINIs on the market.”
“Many of these cars are available through the innovative MINI Next programme
offered by the 21 MINI Garages around Australia ,” Justin said.
MINI Next incorporates a 100-point pre-purchase check, and all cars have a
full approved dealer service history, have travelled low kilometres, and come
with a 12-month unlimited km warranty. *
“Although WHEELS did not point this out directly, retained value of the R50
and R53 models is exceptionally strong and we expect the R56 generation cars to
offer just as impressive retained values down the track,” Justin said.
The WHEELS article was very complementary of the MINI’s performance on the
road and on paper:
“The (MINI) Cooper S stormed into first place, largely by virtue of its
mind-blowing 73.8 percent potential retained value. That’s the best measured in
any Gold Standard Cars category.”
The MINI also topped the segment with its condition based variable service
intervals, as well as having significantly lower fuel consumption than its
rivals, which could mean a saving of as much as $621 per year on petrol.
