Mercedes-Benz has just recorded the best ever three quarter result in its
history in Australia with a record 14,043 vehicles sold from the 1st January to
30th September.
Horst von Sanden, Managing Director, Mercedes Car Group, Australia Pacific
said “In a market that increasingly is becoming more focused on premium
products, we are very satisfied that our Mercedes-Benz vehicles overall market
share is over two per cent. We believe that our combination of leading safety
technology and engineering excellence clearly meets the needs of prestige
customers who demand choices in their vehicles. ”
“With over 500 of the new C-Class delivered in September it is obvious that
our customers have embraced the dynamic new C-Class with vigour von Sanden said.
“The importance of our leading diesel technology has never been more apparent
as prestige buyers increasingly demand a choice of drive trains. Across our
range diesel has never been more popular. In the B-Class diesel accounts for
33%, 12% in C-Class ,E-Class 16% , ML-Class 62%, 66% in GL-Class and 52% in
R-Class.
“The new C220 CDI has sold more than 150 units since its launch just two
months ago, this is almost double the rate its predecessor recorded over the
previous twelve months.”
Von Sanden went on to say “Our introduction of the C320CDI at the Sydney
Motor Show will provide our customers with the highest torque diesel (510Nm) in
this class that combined with a fuel figure of 7.4L/100km and performance
usually associated with a much larger petrol engine (0-100kmh in 7.7 seconds)
and the enduring attraction of rear wheel drive will provide discerning buyers
with a clear leadership vehicle in the segment. “
We are very pleased that year to date we have sold 349 AMG passenger vehicles
with 35 sold in September alone with the CL63 AMG selling seven units (YTD CL63
AMG is running at 22% of CL volume, no mean feat with a CL63 being more than
$400,000 on road) and the CLK63 AMG selling 9 units in September said von Sanden
In the small >$40K we extended our brands lead as the segment leader for
the year as we did also in the >$70K segment with just under half the total
segment for the year. Despite a stock shortage we achieved 25% of the >$100K
segment and control 38% of the segment year to date.
