Records Set to Tumble at Shannons Motor Show Auction
Record Australian prices are expected for Australian Muscle cars and early
NSW numberplates at the Australian International Motor Show Auction presented by
Shannons from 2.00pm on Sunday (Oct 21) at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition
Centre.
Highlights of the auction include:
- The greatest collection of Australian Muscle Cars ever assembled for an
Australian auction, including a 1971 XY Falcon GT-HO Phase III that Shannons
believe could sell for up to $800,000, a 1970 XW Falcon GT-HO ($350-400,000), a
1969 HT Monaro GTS 350 ($150,000-$180,000), a 1972 LJ Torana XU-1
($85,000-$100,000) and a 1980 VC HDT ‘Brock’ Commodore (50,000-$65,000).
- Highly sought-after American Muscle cars including a restored 1967 Shelby
Mustang GT350 Fastback ($200,000-$240,000) and a 1970 Boss 302 Mustang
($110,000-$140,000).
- A rare 1929 Hudson Super Six with stunning Biddle & Smart Sport Phaeton
coachwork ($100,000 - $140,000)
- A spectacular 1957 Cadillac Eldorado Seville coupe customised by legendary
American hot rod builder John D'Agostino ($70,000-$100,000)
In addition Shannons are auctioning the ‘right to display’ 50 plates
low digit black and white NSW number plates for the RTA – 25 of them being
three, four, five and six-digit numeric plates for cars and the remaining 25
being single, double and triple digit plates for motorcycles.
Highlights include ‘228’ and ‘883’ ($50,000-$80,000) ‘2008’ and ‘2088’
($35,000-$50,000), plus ’10,888’, ’20.222’ and ’20.888’ ($20,000-$30,000).
Motorcycle enthusiasts have an even more exciting range to choose from,
highlighted by the NSW numbers ‘2’ and ‘8’, which are expected to each sell for
around $40,000-$80,000.
Shannons are also offering a further 12 car plates for sale by private
vendors, including the iconic number ‘6’ (up to $1.2 million), the equally
collectable ‘78’ ($240,000-$320,000) and the intriguing ‘66666’
($25,90900-$35,000).
