Team Audi departed Darwin on Sunday 21 October as participants in the
Greenfleet division of the Panasonic world solar challenge. The entrant car, an
A3 Sportback 1.9 TDI e, set off towards Katherine with a full tank of fuel. On
Tuesday 23 October, the team entered Alice Springs with over 100km remaining in
the tank.
The indicated fuel consumption of the car has yielded impressive results so
far and Audi was congratulated by Hans Tholstrup, pioneer of the world solar
challenge, upon their arrival in Alice Springs. “This is such an exciting
achievement and what a fantastic vehicle! I am extremely impressed with this
outcome and look forward to seeing the final results in Adelaide” Mr Tholstrup
said.
Team Audi are halfway through the journey and arrived in Yulara earlier today
with Port Adelaide football legend, Warren Tredrea, at the wheel. The indicated
fuel consumption has ranged between 2.8 and 3.2L/100km during the trip so far
and the team still has around 1500km to travel before arriving into Adelaide on
Saturday 27 October.
