Australian Oscar winner Geoffrey Rush joined fellow Aussie actress Cate
Blanchett among a clutch of famous faces emerging onto the red carpet from a BMW
Hydrogen 7 limousine this week.
The Australians were attending the "Cinema. Festa Internazionale di Roma"
film festival along with celluloid notables Jane Fonda and Monica Bellucci,
French actor Gérard Depardieu, star director Francis Ford Coppola, as well as an
adopted Aussie star, Greta Scacchi.
Italian actress Asia Argento, Indian actor and director Shekhar Kapur and
Gilles Jacob, President of the Cannes Film Festival were also among the favoured
stars travelling in the ultimate statement of style and environmental
consciousness.
The stars made their emission-free drive to the festival courtesy of BMW’s
fleet of roving Hydrogen 7 cars. These premium, silver-painted Hydrogen 7
limousines are members of the elite 100-strong first series production fleet,
currently plying the epicentres of global culture, demonstrating future
automotive technology that is actually ready for use today.
The BMW Group is a pioneer of hydrogen technology and has made consistent
advancements in this field.
For over two decades the company has become intensively involved with the
issue of sustainable mobility. In the long term, petrol is to be replaced by
hydrogen as an energy source.
Throughout this year, BMW Hydrogen 7 limousines will be provided as luxury
transports to leaders in politics, business and entertainment.
BMW has produced a first batch of 100 hydrogen-powered 7 Series cars to prove
its technology is not only able to deliver the ultimate driving machine
experience, but also to prove that the production process to build the cars is
as well advanced as that for any BMW.
The BMW Hydrogen 7 combines the full integration of hydrogen technology with
the characteristic BMW features of driving dynamics, running smoothness and
luxury appointments.
