Continental has claimed the number one position as supplier of
passenger and light truck tyres in the
World’s most prestigious and competitive auto market – Europe. The
new position expands Conti’s
long-held grip on the number one spot in its home market,
Germany.
Surpassing competitors, including the previous market leader
Michelin, Conti’s increased success
follows the acquisition of majority control of Slovakia’s Matador
tyres earlier this month.
Continental Regional Executive Vice President, Dr Andreas Esser
says the shift in market leadership
demonstrates the superior safety and performance of its tyre
range.
“Continental continues to perform very well across Europe and we
are committed to achieving similar
success in the Australian market.
“A new million dollar advertising campaign, featuring Vince
Sorrenti & focused on the
German engineered safety of Continental tyres was launched last
month. The outdoor and radio
campaign was created to build brand awareness of Continental tyres
in Australia and is in time for the
recent launch of the new ContiSportContact 3.
“Tyres4U, the Australian importer of Continental tyres, is
investing in its authorised dealer network of
premium tyre service centres. Its key dealers are being
transformed to offer a showroom and service
centre of the highest quality. Flagship dealers, including,
Nedlands Tyre Service in Perth and Trivett
Tyres in Parramatta offer customers a full-service experience and
represent the premium qualities of
the Continental brand,” said Dr Esser.
“We are very proud of this landmark achievement and will now be
focusing on growing our Australian
market while maintaining the number one position in Europe,”
concluded Dr Esser.
The Continental range of Passenger and Light Truck tyres includes:
ContiSportContact 3 (for high
performance sports cars); ContiPremiumContact 2 (for medium &
large cars), ContiEcoContact 3 (for
compact cars); ContiCrossContact UHP (for high performance 4WDs)
and ContiVancoContact (for
vans). A new selection of Continental tyres, called
ContiComfortContact is available at a small
premium to the price of ordinary tyres, offering exceptional value
for the German engineering of
Continental tyres.
In Australia, Continental tyres are original equipment on new cars
and 4WDs from BMW, Mercedes-
Benz, Audi, Porsche, Volvo and Land Rover, as well as Ford Focus,
Holden Astra, Nissan Navara and
many more. While in Europe, Continental remains the leader in
Original Equipment, where one in four
new cars off the line is equipped with Continental tyres.
