Audi’s stylish new A5 Coupe has arrived in Australia with a
3.2 FSI engine to kick start the range.
The A5 extends the Audi range as a new model line, taking up
the tradition of classic two-door sports and touring coupés. Expertly styled
with a powerful presence, it uses elements of Audi’s progressive design
language, creating a new coupé that makes a clear design statement of sportiness
and elegance. The A5 also offers a great dynamic driving experience and
excellent long-distance comfort.
Priced at $91,900, the A5 3.2 FSI multitronic with sport
program (7-speed continuously variable transmission) is the first A5 model to
arrive, with additional engine variants to follow in 2008.
All engines have high efficiency and eco-friendly
characteristics in common and the diesel units already comply with the EU5
standard which will apply in future and, thanks to a range of technical
innovations, their fuel consumption and CO2 values are impressively low.
The first-to-arrive, smooth and powerful 3.2 V6 engine offers
a maximum of 195kW at 6,500rpm and 330Nm of torque from 3,000 – 5,000rpm. It
accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.6 seconds.
Audi Australia’s Managing Director, Mr Joerg Hofmann, says the
new A5 heralds a clear step forward for the brand in terms of
desirability.
“This new Coupe is a stunning vehicle and we believe it is the
best in its class. With competitive pricing, advanced engine technology and
elegant design, the A5 will surely turn the heads of the luxury car-buying
public,” Mr Hofmann said.
“Audi is a brand on the move in Australia and this new model
will help propel us towards yet another period of record sales growth.”
With a length of 4.63 metres, the new Coupe is capacious, with
four comfortable seats and an ample load volume of 455 litres. Its generous
proportions are another nod to its purpose as a genuine long-distance tourer.
For the first time, a brand new key is a design feature of the
A5 and S5 range and also provides sophisticated functionality. Softly contoured
and pleasant to hold, the innovative key dispenses with the conventional key
bit.
The key communicates electronically with the vehicle
electrical system as soon as it is inserted into the cockpit and also stores
important information, such as the car’s current mileage or warning messages
from the Audi A5’s driver information system.
The complete A5 range will be available by August 2008 and
features powerful and economical FSI, TFSI and TDI engines, mated to a
completely new high-precision running gear, which, along with innovative,
luxury-class equipment features to make this coupe peerless in its
segment.
