It would once have seemed like asking for the impossible: combine the
low-slung style and dynamic road capabilities of a sports coupe with a versatile
Sports Activity Vehicle.
But BMW’s all-new X6 Sports Activity Coupé proves that sometimes things only
seem impossible.
To join a spectacular group of new models on the BMW stand at the 2008
Melbourne International Motor Show, the BMW X6 is likely to have potential
buyers rushing to fill out order forms.
The lithe new multi-purpose Sports Activity Coupé will arrive in BMW
showrooms during August this year, in X6 xDrive35i petrol form, and as the
turbo-diesel X6 xDrive35d.
Both inline six-cylinder engines in the new X6 represent the latest BMW
engine technology, the xDrive35i featuring the same award-winning 225 kW Twin
Turbo petrol powerplant seen in the 335i Coupé, Convertible and sedan, and the
new 135i Coupé and Convertible models.
The X6 xDrive35d is equipped with BMW’s Variable Twin Turbo inline
six-cylinder diesel that produces an astounding 210 kW.
Central to the vast range of dynamic capabilities of the new BMW X6 is BMW’s
intelligent xDrive all-wheel drive technology.
The BMW X6 is also the first vehicle in the world to offer Dynamic
Performance Control, which varies the torque split at each side of the rear axle
to help provide new levels of directional stability in any driving situation
(independent of engine load and drive power), on or off road.
The X6 xDrive35i and xDrive35d will both come comprehensively equipped
with front and rear park distance control as well as a rear view camera,
automatic climate-control air-conditioning, Professional navigation with TV, BMW
Radio Professional with in-dash CD player and six-disc CD changer, 12-speaker
Hi-Fi system, Nevada leather seat trim with power adjusted sports seats in the
front and Sport steering wheel all standard.
Both X6 models come with a Sport steering wheel, 19-inch alloy wheels,
Dynamic Performance Control, gear shift paddles, Comfort Access, Sports seats,
adaptive Bi-xenon headlights with washers and high-beam assist, Head-Up Display
and USB/audio interface.
The enormous capabilities of the Twin Turbo V8 version of the X6, the 300 kW,
600 Nm xDrive50i, will become available to Australian buyers early in 2009.
