Subaru’s new generation Forester takes on a starring role at Melbourne
International Motor Show today with some range, pricing and safety details
released for the first time.
In line with Subaru’s long-term safety commitment, the Australasian New Car
Assessment Program (ANCAP) has awarded the constant All-Wheel Drive Forester a
five-star rating for occupant safety in independent crashworthiness testing.
Forester has also gained a three-star pedestrian rating. Forester
shares the Vehicle Dynamics Control stability system being introduced on every
new generation Subaru, and now standard on more than 85 per cent of the
range.
Nick Senior, Managing Director, Subaru Australia, confirmed that Forester,
the best seller in the range, will continue to be available in X, XS and
turbocharged XT variants when it goes on sale mid-March.
Forester X manual will be priced from $30,490 recommended retail price.
Pricing for the other models will be announced when they go on sale.
Speaking in Melbourne at Forester’s first Australian public appearance, Mr
Senior said: “We have sold more than 105,000 Foresters since it was introduced
in 1997, when it pioneered the compact SUV market.
“With a striking new design, a five-star safety story and a spacious interior
with innovative features, we are confident that Forester will build on its proud
record as one of Australia’s most awarded vehicles.”
Forester features improved ground clearance, more occupant space, less rear
overhang and improved cargo area practicality. Full details on new generation
Forester will be available in the second week of March.
