Debuting in Australia earlier this year at the 2008 Melbourne Motor Show, the four-seater Audi A3 Cabriolet wowed viewers with its sporty and dynamic design.

The compact convertible features a semi-automatic lightweight soft top that easily opens and closes in a class-leading nine seconds.  When open, the soft top hood takes up very little space thanks to its Z-shaped fold.  An optional fully automatic hood will be available from launch priced at $1,300 across all A3 Cabriolet models.

Dominating the front of the A3 Cabriolet is the dynamic, large single-frame Audi grille and high impact standard-fit daytime running lights.

Split fold rear seats are standard and together with the largest luggage area in its class, the A3 Cabriolet stamps itself as the best all-year-round vehicle in its segment.  The new A3 Cabriolet has a very welcome and usable luggage capacity of 260 to 674 litres whether the soft top hood is open or closed.

Safety in the A3 Cabriolet is not compromised with the body structure of this latest luxury offering from Audi containing a significant proportion of high-strength and ultra-high-strength steels.  Airbags for driver and front passenger, together with head and thorax side airbags, are all fitted as standard.  All four seats in the A3 Cabriolet feature head restraints.  An electronic stability program with Anti-lock braking, electronic brake force distribution, electronic differential lock and Brake Assist is fitted as standard across all models.

Audi Australia will introduce two variants at launch for the new A3 Cabriolet range, including the sporty and efficient 1.8 TFSI with ‘Attraction’ specification, and the multi-award-winning 2.0 TFSI engine with ‘Ambition’ model in both manual and S tronic guise.  A 1.6-litre version with ‘Attraction’ specification will arrive later in the year.

Customer deliveries of the new Audi A3 Cabriolet will commence from August 2008.

Recommended retail pricing for A3 Cabriolet:

1.8 TFSI Attraction (S tronic) 118kw $49,900
2.0 TFSI Ambition (6-speed manual) 147kw $54,900
2.0 TFSI Ambition (S tronic) 147kW $57,500
