Nissan Australia will preview its luxurious, new Murano all-wheel-drive
mid-size SUV at the 2008 Australian International Motor Show which opens October
9.
The new Murano unambiguously states its claim in the prestige SUV segment and
backs this up with an improved quality feel. More luxurious features and
equipment are on offer and high quality leather trim is now standard.
It features a revised and further refined version of Nissan’s award-winning
VQ35 V6 engine, a significantly evolved new generation Xtronic-CVT transmission
and new exterior and interior styling.
The dramatic visual appearance maintains the strong styling cues of the first
generation vehicle that set new standards for medium-sized crossovers on debut
in Australia in August 2005. Murano was arguably the one-that-started-it-all in
the medium crossover segment.
In addition to its striking exterior appearance, the new Murano is extremely
well equipped with state-of-the-art features, many of which are not offered on
key rivals in the segment e.g. fuel-saving CVT transmission.
From the start, the accent is on luxury, with Xenon headlamps, LED taillights
and 18-inch alloy wheels, ‘intelligent keyless’ entry and push button engine
start/stop.
The technology story continues inside with a 7-inch full colour display and
rear view camera, DVD satellite navigation with controls on the steering wheel,
hands free Bluetooth phone system also with steering wheel controls, rain
sensing front wipers, leather trim (in black or ivory), 8-way power driver seat
with memory, heated front seats, electric tilt and slide steering column
adjustment, automatic dimming rear view mirror, a power flip-up 60/40 split fold
rear seat and power operated tailgate among the feature-rich equipment
tally.
Safety features are paramount in this family-focused segment of the market
and the Murano does not disappoint with a complete array of features that
includes active headrests, front and side (front) airbags, curtain airbags,
Vehicle Dynamic Control, ABS with EBD, and of course Nissan’s All Mode 4x4-i
all-wheel drive technology.
The new Murano also features technology upgrades that include speed sensitive
power steering, the new generation Xtronic-CVT with manual mode and a new
multilink rear suspension.
