Toyota has launched a new European-style Corolla Liftback and introduced a value-for-money pricing policy across the entire Corolla range.
The fully imported Corolla is the eighth generation Corolla and Toyota's first volume-selling Liftback model in Australia since 1994.
It offers style, safety, interior space, comfort, ride and handling, and product appeal.
Four Corolla Liftback models are offered, with a choice of manual and automatic transmission, in Conquest and CSX equipment grades.
All Liftbacks have Toyota's GOA safety body, an electronically controlled driver's airbag SRS, front seatbelt pretensioners, driver's force limiting seatbelt, 1.8 litre Twin Cam Multi-valve EFI engine, rear spoiler, front power windows CD player and air conditioning as standard equipment.
Additional features in Liftback CSX include: sports seats, ABS anti-skid brakes, four-wheel disc brakes, front passenger airbag SRS, front passenger's force-limiting seatbelt, front foglamps, eight-spoke alloy wheels, chrome radiator grille, body coloured door handles and mudflaps, rear power windows and six-disc in-dash CD player.
Optional equipment includes, for the first time in Corolla, a power tilt-and-slide moonroof.
The sleek body design contributes to safety, handling and NVH reduction.
Corolla Liftback has passed a 40 percent offset deformable barrier test at an impact speed of 64km/h - well in excess of the world test standard of 56km/h and Australian Design Rule Requirements.
It has also met European 50km/h dynamic side impact regulations, and rear moving barrier and dynamic rollover tests.
The new Liftback is the first Corolla offered in Australia with a front passenger airbag SRS.
It also has a new, sophisticated chassis package for optimum steering, ride comfort and handling.
Corolla's suspension gives the vehicle a more sporty handling flavour, with crisp turn-in, impressive steering feel, more neutral handling and good traction.
Special attention has been paid to comfort, convenience and quality in the new Corolla Liftback. Ergonomics and functionality and storage space are excellent.
All locally manufactured Corolla sedan and Seca models will now be fitted with air-conditioning at prices frozen to 1996 levels.
The new fully imported euro-look Corolla Liftback Conquest will come to market with better specification and air-conditioning at $23,320 - $1,170 beneath the Seca RV it supersedes.
Prices for the Corolla CSi Seca and Sedan manual models remain at $19,990, and now include air-conditioning.
