Holden engine operations has been awarded the coveted QS 9000 third edition quality accreditation. It is the first General Motors (GM) powertrain group in the world to qualify for this globally recognised standard.
Australia's principal exporter of manufactured goods, Holden engine operations is based at Fishermens Bend, Victoria. It combines engine assembly and testing, foundry casting facilities and precision manufacture of key engine components. The Family II range of four cylinder engines produced by Holden engine operations is exported to markets in Asia, America and Europe, while its six and eight cylinder engines power the best-selling Holden Commodore and Calais model range and export models Chevrolet Lumina and Omega.
Holden engine operations Executive in Charge, Vic Beesley, said his 2,600-strong employee team should be congratulated for its continuing commitment to achieving world class quality outcomes.
"The fact that we are the first GM powertrain operation to receive QS 9000 third edition certification certainly validates our international standing. The recognition demonstrates the standard of excellence we continually strive to attain - and it shows that Holden is very well equipped to play an increasingly significant role in the global industry," Vic Beesley concluded.
