Four newcomers to Peugeot's Australian range go on show at this year's Melbourne International Motor Show.
Celebrating 50 years of continuous, national distribution in Australia Peugeot is displaying 14 vehicles within an 11-model range, the broadest it has ever offered here.
Starting at $22,995 for the entry-level 306 Style and topped by the stunning, Pininfarina designed and built 406 Coupe at $79,000 the Peugeot range offers sedan, hatchback and wagon models as well as four cylinder petrol or diesel engines and a high-performance, 3.0-litre V6.
And year two new models pair of exciting performance enhancement packages have broadend the range even further.
306 XRDT - This compact four door sedan is powered by a 1.9-litre, four-cylinder, turbo intercooled diesel engine.
It combines outstanding fuel economy and performance with exceptional dynamics and high standard specification.
At $29,100 (manual only) the 306 XRDT will cover 1000 km plus on a 60-litre tank of fuel and its luxury specification includes: driver's airbag, climate-control air-conditioning remote central locking, engine immobiliser, electric front windows, rear window blind as well as height adjustable driver's seat and steering column.
406 SV Wagon — At $58,500 (auto only) this five-seat wagon retains all the luxury of its sedan counterpart and the power of its 3.0-litre, quad-cam, 24-valve V6 engine.
Boasting 144 kW of power the 406 SV Wagon's standard specification includes: dual airbags, ABS brakes, 15" alloy wheels, climate-control air-conditioning, cruise control, automatic rain-sensing windscreen wipers, engine immobiliser, six-speaker CD stereo, remote central locking and electric windows.
For an extra $5,500 the SV luxury option pack includes: full leather trim, electric front seats with two position memory on the driver's side, front (head & thorax) side airbags, a six-function on-board computer, leather trimmed steering wheel and gear knob, headlight washers, courtesy lights and illuminated vanity mirrors.
PERFORMANCE PLUS
Peugeot has also introduced comprehensive performance enhancement packages suitable for 306 and 406.
The new range is the result of a specific development program between Peugeot product engineers and leading specialist equipment manufacturers such as Janspeed, Cibie, Zender, Remus and Fl suspension supplier Eibac.
All package components are genuine, Automobiles Peugeot tested items and each is available individually.
406 Performance Enhancement package includes: — 16" x 7.0 alloy wheels fitted with 2 15/55 tyres, body elements including front, rear spoilers and boot spoiler. A Remus sport exhaust system and Eibach lowered spring kit.
Total package cost is $7,310 (including sales tax) with fitting cost ranging between $2,200 and $2,700.
306 Performance Enhancement package includes: — a range of body elements including a twin headlight kit front spoiler, rear and side skirts, Eibach lowered spring kit, 16" x 7.0 alloy wheels on 205/45 Z-rated rubber and sports exhaust.
As well there is a range of alloy finishing pieces including a gear knob, aerial, hand brake lever, exhaust trim and fuel filler cap.
Total package cost is $9,240 (including sales tax) with fitting cost ranging between $2,200 and $2,700.
