Two-time winner Greg Crick will return to Targa Tasmania in a Honda Integra Type R on May 8-14 after a six-year absence.
Crick, who drove a race-prepared Honda NSX to victory in the first two events in 1992 and 1993, will make his fourth Targa Tasmania appearance in a Honda Australia Finance-sponsored Integra Type R. Guy Dunstan will occupy the co-driver seat.
Crick, Dealer Principal of Greg Crick Honda in Launceston, is aiming for a top 10 finish and expects the Integra Type R will impress during Targa's demanding stages.
"The Integra Type R is a sensational package. The car is so nimble and its ability to change direction quickly is simply superb, as is the way it handles fast, flowing corners," he said.
"The diff works so well it makes the Integra into a magical front-wheel-drive car. I have tried it on several Targa stages and I am very confident this $40,000 car is going to surprise many people in this year's event."
As 1991 Australian Sports Sedan Champion and veteran of 10 Bathurst V8 touring car races, Crick says Targa Tasmania is unlike anything else on Australia's motorsport calendar.
"Targa Tasmania requires extreme concentration and a high degree of self-control, which makes it the ultimate challenge for any enthusiast."
Motoring journalist Bob Jennings will compete in a sister Honda Australia Finance Integra Type R with co-driver Will Logan. The Sydney Morning Herald scribe is also intent on a place in the top 10 and believes the Type R is the car to help him do it.
Jennings first encountered the race-bred Integra Type R at a racetrack launch last year where he was impressed by the car's performance and handling in heavy rain.
Jennings will draw on three decades of motorsport competition, including two Targa Tasmania entries, to complete what he describes as a unique and demanding event.
