ReVolvolution, Volvo’s new global marketing campaign, is more than an advertising tagline, it’s statement of direction. The January 2001 launch of the S60 represents an exciting and dynamic leap, evidenced by its striking new design and performance.
In keeping with this leap, Volvo Car Australia will direct their advertising to innovative and technology driven mediums, such as: Palms and Internet Broadband.
Volvo Car Australia is the first company to advertise on Palms. In Australia there are 105,000 users and 22,000 of these download daily the AvantGo Newsletter, where the banner ads appear. Palm use in Australia is growing steadily and it is now one of the most popular ways to access information from the Internet. Users can send an email to Volvo order a brochure or arrange a test drive.
Internet Broadband technology is a new internet connection method, powered by cable rather than modem. The result is a speedier connection time. As part of the S60 launch, Volvo will conduct a Broadband campaign on the Optus@home and Telstra@home sites, which direct the user, via an aminated button, to an animated movie-type S60 promotion.
As well as technology driven advertising on Palms and Internet Broadband, other firsts include:
- Largest 24 sheet poster outdoor advertising buy on the Eastern seaboard
- First car manufacturer to fly a banner (21m x 21m) from a helicopter
The Volvo S60, available in three variants – naturally-aspirated 2.4 20V, light-pressure 2.4 T and high-pressure T5 is on sale from January 2001. Prices range from $54950 to $82950.
