Volkswagen is offering a free extended warranty on all Transporter models sold and delivered from 1st February 2001 until 31st March 2001.
The two-year extension of the existing 2-year/60,000 kms factory warranty gives Transporter buyers real peace-of-mind and security for four years and unlimited kilometers.
There are no exclusions – all private, fleet and Government sales are eligible for the 4 year/unlimited kms warranty provided the Transporter is sold and delivered during the program period.
With up to 6.3 cubic meters of usable space, excellent handling and a choice of powerful petrol or turbo-diesel engines, the Transporter is a popular choice for both private and business users, including the NSW Ambulance Service.
Manual 2.5-litre petrol and diesel engine Transporters have available as an option Volkswagen’s Syncro all-wheel-drive system which provides enhanced traction – just the thing for the loose, sandy surfaces frequently encountered by rural buyers and on construction sites.
According to Volkswagen Group Australia’s Managing Director, Mr Peter Nochar, there is a Volkswagen Transporter to suit just about everyone.
"With a choice of 25 different models, including long wheelbase double cab chassis, short wheelbase single cab chassis, long and short wheelbase vans, Volkswagen Transporter is one of the most diverse vehicles available on the Australian market," Mr Nochar said. "Our limited time offer of a 4 year/unlimited kms warranty provides real peace-of-mind for Transporter buyers and highlights our confidence in the product."
Mr Nochar added that significant growth in the commercial vehicle market is a key to Volkswagen Group Australia’s achievement of increased sales volumes.
"Volkswagen Transporter has much to offer the commercial or private user and we are committed to increasing our business in that market," Mr Nochar said.
As a delivery van, the Volkswagen Transporter is hard to beat – the load surface is low and absolutely level and the rear wheel arches are small, to easily fit pallets between them.
Loading is easy with a rear tailgate and large sliding side door. Rear wing doors with an opening angle of 180 degrees are optional.
Inside, Volkswagen engineers have carefully considered the needs of commercial vehicle drivers whose working day requires long hours on the road.
Anatomically correct seats provide high levels of comfort and feature height adjustable head restraints plus three-point inertia reel seatbelts with height adjustment for the outer seats.
Also standard are cloth upholstery and a hardwearing, easy-clean rubber floor surface.
Safety features include a standard driver’s side airbag, cabin door intrusion beams, passenger safety cell with energy-absorbing front end and four-wheel disc brakes with a load-sensitive pressure reducer to ensure maximum braking efficiency.
Under the bonnet is a choice of three engines.
The entry-level short-wheelbase is only available with Volkswagen’s 62kW/159Nm 2.0-litre four cylinder petrol.
Buyers of the other Volkswagen Transporter models can choose either the 2.5-litre five cylinder petrol engine - which delivers a handy 85kW of power and 200Nm of torque – or the 2.5-litre turbo-diesel producing 75kW of power and a remarkable 250Nm of torque.
