Now with wider track for improved ride and handling, even more comfort and luxury.
The upgraded 2001 Holden Jackaroo SE and Monterey four-wheel drive wagons
feature a significantly wider track, re-tuned suspension, an extended
engine choice and a range of added comfort and convenience items.
The new models are distinguished by stylish flared wheel arches to
accommodate the wider stance, new bodyside protection mouldings, bumper
inserts and a bumper-mounted rear licence plate.
For the first time, the benefits of diesel durability, economy and
towing power are available to Holden Monterey buyers. These benefits
come courtesy of Isuzu's powerful and class-leading 3.0 litre turbocharged
diesel powerplant, matched with four-speed electronically controlled
automatic transmission.
Simon Carr, Holden's Marketing Manager, Light Commercial and Recreational
Vehicles, said the 2001 model year upgrades made the Jackaroo an even
more attractive proposition for shoppers in the mid-sized four wheel
drive category.
"Now that the Isuzu range of light commercial and recreational vehicles
has been re-integrated into Holden's mainstream operations, we intend
to build a greater awareness of its considerable appeal. The market
these models compete in is one that fits very well with Holden's Australian
brand character - and it complements all the inherent strengths, the
excitement and leadership that the Holden brand has come to represent.
"In the case of Jackaroo, which is a solid competitor in the mid-sized
four wheel drive category, we will be emphasising all the qualities
- its great performance and driveability in particular - that make it
worthy of the Holden badge," Simon Carr said.
Front and rear tracks on the 2001 Jackaroo SE and Monterey have been
increased by 60 millimetres, and related revisions to spring, shock
absorber and suspension settings have been tailored to further improve
the driveability of both petrol and diesel-engined models.
The benefits of the wider track and re-tuned suspension translate into
superior straight line stability, tracking and enhanced overall ride
quality. This superior ride quality results from increased rear suspension
travel, and is particularly noticeable when the wagon is laden and also
under rough road conditions.
The V6-engined Jackaroo SE and Monterey models, with their focus on
performance, now deliver improved turn-in response and more neutral
understeer and oversteer characteristics.
Holden Jackaroo
While track dimensions on the entry level model Jackaroo are unchanged,
it now offers 'shift on the fly' as standard, enabling 4WD high ratio
to be selected at speeds of up to 100km/h at the push of a button.
Underlining Jackaroo's reputation as a high quality, well-equipped
four-wheel drive wagon, the SE model now offers the luxury of
heated front seats, four-way power driver's seat adjustment and two-way
front passenger seat adjustment. Variable intermittent front and rear
wipers, a leather wrapped steering wheel and driver and passenger map-reading
lamps are also included as standard equipment.
Holden Monterey
The 3.0 litre turbo diesel engine now available on the Holden Monterey
is the most powerful in its class. The four-cylinder inter-cooled turbo
design features four valves per cylinder, DOHC with direct-acting valve
mechanism and drive by wire electronic throttle control. It produces
118kW of power at 3900rpm and maximum torque of 333Nm at 2000rpm.
Now included as standard on the Monterey are leather upholstery, heated
front seats, four-way power driver's seat adjustment and two-way power
front passenger seat adjustment. A useful environment meter gives information
on outside temperature, altitude, compass heading and barometric pressure.
Further luxury touches include leather-wrapped gearshift and handbrake
controls, chrome trimmed exterior mirrors and woodgrain trim on the
steering wheel, glovebox and doors.
