A widowed Melbourne mother of two has found the ideal car for her young family by winning a Toyota Echo sedan in a competition run by Pacific Rent a Car.
Mary Tzoumanekas beat thousands of other entrants to win the competition, with an upbeat answer to the question of why she should win a Toyota Echo.
Mary wrote that the car would be a dream come true for her and her two boys, George and Costas, and attached a photo of her family.
The win was a welcome change in her fortunes since losing her husband to cancer when George and Costas were only toddlers.
"It’s a great piece of luck," she said.
The competition was sponsored jointly by Pacific Rent a Car and Toyota, and the prize was upgraded from a three-door hatch to a four-door sedan to suit Mary’s family-car needs.
Pacific director Joe Tigel said the Echo sedan made an ideal small family car with its roomy interior and economical but powerful 1.5 litre VVTi engine.
"Mary can be sure of many years of reliable, economical motoring with this car, and it will still have the room she needs as the boys grow up into strapping young men," he said.
"We were glad to upgrade the prize car to a sedan to ensure it meets her needs."
Mary’s car was delivered at the official opening of Pacific’s 29th branch office at East Malvern, which also becomes the company’s national headquarters.
Pacific operates a fleet of almost 1500 vehicles nationally, about 80 percent of which are Toyotas.
It offers a wide range of vehicles from sports cars to light and medium trucks, and has branches in every state.
