For more than three decades Honda has been the front-runner in the development of four-wheel “All Terrain Vehicles” or ATVs as they are more commonly called. Their dominance of the market continues today with Honda TRXs being the ATV of choice around the world.

Honda Australia’s ATV Commercial Sales Manager, Rod Day explains their appeal, “Honda has invested years of research and development into its ATV range. Every Honda TRX is a purpose built four-wheeler, not like other manufacturers who have adapted two-wheel technology.”

The result is a range of ATVs that are famous for their reliability, toughness and sheer ability to work in any conditions. “As you can imagine, Australia dishes out some of the most severe conditions on earth, which is why Honda TRXs are chosen to work anywhere from Surf Life Saving beaches to the dusty outback and even within the armed forces.”

Mr Day relates an example of Honda reliability that comes all the way from the harsh extremes of the Antarctic. “A Honda TRX was abandoned at Mawson’s Hut in 1998 when the team working on the hut had to leave in a hurry due to an approaching blizzard. When they returned three years later, not only had the TRX survived the minus 40 degree temperatures and hurricane force winds, but it actually started on the third kick!” Expedition leader Rob Easther was not surprised. “The Antarctic division uses Honda quads extensively in our field operations. We appreciate their reliability because in Antarctic lives depend on it.”

Of course, Honda TRXs are reliable for a very good reason. Thanks to a philosophy of ongoing improvement, innovation and the employment of the very latest technology, Honda TRXs continue to lead the way.

Rod Day explains the very latest innovation found on the all-new Honda TRX500 Hydrostatic: “It’s Honda's largest and most powerful ATV ever and it features the unique Hondamatic™ transmission – a continuously variable automatic transmission that, thanks to its hydro-mechanical design, eliminates belts altogether. It’s also fully sealed and maintenance free – so, unlike other autos, whose belts can get dirty, wear out and fail, the Hondamatic™ guarantees years and years of reliable service.”

Other class-leading features of the TRX500 include a dash-mounted knob that allows you to quickly and easily change between three different Hondamatic transmission programs: D1 for maximum performance, D2 for maximum torque, and ESP™, Honda’s exclusive manual Electric Shift Program.

Rod Day believes commercial users seeking a reliable automatic transmission won’t be able to go past the power, durability and versatility that the all-new Honda TRX500 delivers by the bucketload.

The level of innovation and R&D invested in the TRX500 has attracted widespread industry acclaim. The TRX500 was voted ATV Connections “2000 ATV of the year” as well as ATV Magazine “ATV of the Year - 2001”.
