Renault’s acclaimed pocket rocket, the Clio Renault Sport, has been declared the outright winner of MOTOR Magazine’s annual performance marathon, ‘Bang for your Bucks.’
Pitted against 27 of the best sports cars available in Australia, the Clio Renault Sport was commended for its “sheer pace and exuberance” and “razor sharp handling, gutsy engine and smack-on-the-money pricing.”
Editor of MOTOR Magazine, Ged Bulmer, further praised the vehicle. “An absolute crackerjack. Thoroughly well sorted and an archetypal ‘Bang for your Bucks’ proposition.”
The Clio Renault Sport is powered by a 2.0-litre 16-valve engine generating 124kW of power at 6,250 rpm and 200Nm of torque at 5,400rpm and is mated to a close-ratio JC5-type five speed manual gearbox.
Launched as a limited edition model in May this year, the Clio Renault Sport is part of the new Australian Renault range, along with three other vehicles – the Scenic, Scenic RX4 and Megane Cabriolet. All available units of the Clio Renault Sport have been snapped up and there is a long list of drivers eagerly awaiting the launch of the updated Clio range later this year.
Richard Wilson, Director of Renault Australia, was delighted with the award. “The Clio Renault Sport is the performance flagship of the local Renault range,” he said. “Receiving the respected ‘Bang for your Bucks’ award from MOTOR Magazine confirms the 2.0-litre Clio’s place in Australian performance motoring.”
