Renault Australia has announced its most successful sales month since the popular European automotive manufacturer returned to the Australian market in June last year. Vehicle sales during January hit a new high of 410 registrations with strong demand across the entire range.
The compact Clio, versatile Scenic multi-purpose vehicle, four-wheel-drive Scenic RX4 and Megane Cabriolet have all won enthusiastic acceptance from the Australian public and Januarys result paves the way for further improvement in 2002.
Central to the companys strengthening sales was the launch of the new Clio in December. The Clio range consisting of 1.4-litre and 1.6-litre five door hatch variants, and Motor Magazines "Bang for your Bucks 2001" winner, the high-performance 2.0-litre Clio Sport reported 109 sales during the month.
The Scenic 4x2, a landmark vehicle in the new multi-purpose vehicle division recorded strong sales with 125 units sold last month.
Renaults versatile four-wheel drive, the Scenic RX4 surged to an all-time high of 120 sales, a 20% increase over Decembers result. Interest in the vehicle is running high with the release of the "Verve" package including alloy wheels, roof rack and six stacker compact disc player - during December.
Drop-top driving enthusiasts have also warmed to Renaults Megane Cabriolet, which recorded 56 sales during January and regularly topped its segment in the six months since its release.
Mr Richard Wilson, Director of Renault Australia, was delighted with the January result. "Renaults return to the Australian market is picking up pace," he said.
"Weve just appointed another two sites in Tasmania, with another two to come in NSW, taking the Australian dealer network to a total of twenty two outlets and the long-awaited release of the Clio hatch is keeping them all very busy."
"And these improved sales results are set to continue with the launch in March of the all-new Laguna prestige Saloon and Estate Renaults benchmark vehicle for safety, design and technology" Mr Wilson said.
