Sirion GTvi Becomes Wolf In Chic Clothing

Daihatsu continues to defuse the argument that Japanese cars necessarily look alike. Its new generation Sirion GTvi has emerged from a muscle tone and makeover looking as stylishly European as the hottest hatches from France and Italy.

Vaguely ovoid in its original guise, Sirion GTvi has gained poise and purpose from an appointment with the design studio. Radiator grille, split front bumper and wide under-bumper intake with driving lights add a European sporty touch, and new bonnet and fenders improve muscle definition.

Sirion GTvi shares some of its new generation image with the Sirion 1.0L model, but enjoys a greater list of upgraded features. Driving lights and alloy wheels are changed, and overtaken drivers will now get a chance to admire a chromed exhaust tip. The central dash panel and instrument cluster have been redesigned and finished in metallic silver for a more purposeful look.

Seat and floor covering material has been upgraded in both models to enhance the upmarket, European feel and finish, and Sirion GTvi now boasts height-adjustable rear seat headrests. It also offers full body kit, chrome side mouldings, optional steer-shift, ABS brakes and remote Kenwood CD player over and above the extensive list of Sirion 1.0L standard features.

These include front electric windows, power steering, remote electric mirrors, split folding rear seats, rear window wiper and washer, engine immobiliser, remote fuel flap release, UV protectant glass, and remote hatch opener

Daihatsu believes that its Sirion models represent a new generation of motor vehicle that effectively provides a spacious and comfortable interior and high level of safety and performance in a compact package.

Sirion GTvi is Sirion on steroids. More than just an engine option, the GTvi and the basic 1.0L have not much more in common than Clark Kent and Superman. For a start, there are the obvious external differences - the full body kit, chrome side mouldings, alloy wheels, rear spoiler and driving lights.

But the big difference is under the bonnet. Sirion GTvi is powered by a 1.3-litre, four-cylinder, twin cam, DVVT, 16-valve engine that produces a punchy 75 kilowatts and 120 Nms.

New look Daihatsu Sirion GTvi (including GST) has an RRP of $16,990 for the manual and $18,790 for the F-1inspired steershift automatic.
