Nissan’s prestigious Maxima sedan will unveil a new-look model line-up with additional features at this year’s Sydney Motor Show, held from September 17-27,2002.

The repositioning of the popular Maxima sedan sees the highly specified ST variant lead the entry to the line-up, while a sporty new ST-R variant featuring new body skirts is an addition to the range. The luxuriously appointed Ti model maintains its position at the head of the Maxima range.

Acclaimed for it’s refined 3.0-litre VQ-design DOHC 24-valve alloy V6 engine, the Nissan Maxima has been the quiet achiever in Nissan’s popular Australian model range, performing consistently in the prestige vehicle segment. The improvements announced in the 2003 model line-up provide added value and design accents to the stylish sedan.

Traditionally the most popular vehicle in the Maxima range, the ST model has gained recognition for its impressive standard list of appointments including driver and passenger SRS airbags, ABS brakes, seatbelt pretensioners, a 6 stack CD player and automatic climate control. The 2003 Maxima ST now adds luxury trim and a new dash treatment at the reduced price of $39,990.

Sporting a stylish new rear spoiler and wide front and side skirts, the new ST-R model adds a dash of designer flair to the Maxima range. Priced at $42,990, the new ST-R variant boasts all the features of the Maxima ST and adds a gunmetal dash and door surrounds, electric sunroof, front fog lights and 17 inch alloy wheels.

The prestigious Maxima Ti remains at the top of the Maxima line-up and surrounds the driver with luxury appointments. Specification levels echo that of the popular ST, but with the addition of an electric sunroof, 17 inch alloy wheels, front fog lights, leather trim, heated front seats, active front headrests, SRS side impact airbags and illuminated vanity mirrors. Pricing for the 2003 Maxima Ti remains unchanged at $47,990.

First released in Australia in 1990, the Nissan Maxima has been praised for its superior performance and dynamics and smooth-as-silk transmission. The Maxima’s powerful V6 engine has been included in the world renowned Wards Auto World “10 Best Engines” award for seven consecutive years (1995-2001) – the only engine to achieve such consistent results.

Announcing the 2003 Maxima line-up at the Sydney Motor Show, Nissan Australia’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mr Leon Daphne, highlighted the Maxima’s enduring appeal in the prestige vehicle segment.

“The Nissan Maxima is well recognised for its superior levels of comfort, extensive equipment list and smooth performance. The addition of the stylish new ST-R and the enhancements to the 2003 Maxima line-up makes the vehicle an astute purchase decision for the discerning buyer,” Mr Daphne said.

The 2003 Maxima model range will be available through the Australian Nissan dealers from 17th October, 2002.
