Hyundai's 'Astrel' accessory brand has released a special 'Targa' body kit for the sleek and stylish Tiburon sports coupe.
The kit comprises a black mesh Sports Grille and lower front Bumper Insert each with body-colour surrounds, plus a high-riser rear wing.
The Targa kit is available on either the Tiburon V6 or the Tiburon 2.0 litre four-cylinder. On the V6, the high wing replaces the standard equipment low set trailing edge rear wing and uses the same fixing points on the liftback.
The front grille surrounds are locally engineered, deformable ABS polycarbonate while the rear wing is Hyundai Motor's 'wild' wing from its original equipment catalogue.
The complete kit has a recommended retail price around $2000 fitted and painted, but actual price will depend on each dealer's own painting and fitting cost.
Motorsport debut
The 'Targa' kit commemorates Tiburon's global motorsport debut earlier this year in the Targa Tasmania.
In that five-day, 1977km event, "Motor" magazine editor Michael Taylor driving a standard-drivetrain V6 six-speed manual finished in the top ten per cent of the 253-car field, beating most of the late model Porsches and many of the more expensive, race or rally-oriented turbo 4WD cars.
Tiburon recommended retail pricing starts at $35,880 for the 2.0 litre manual, the most affordable uniquely sports-bodied car in the sports car segment, while Tiburon V6 six-speed manual is from $42,880.
