Lexus has launched a new four-wheel drive luxury sport vehicle.

Lexus RX330 is the second generation of the model that is widely credited with pioneering a new category of four-wheel drive vehicle when it was launched in Japan and the United States in 1998.

The five-door RX330 was designed to combine the refinement of a luxury car with the high driving position and versatility of four-wheel drive technology.

Lexus RX330 has an all-alloy 3.3-litre Quad Cam V6 engine equipped with intelligent variable valve timing (VVT-i) and an electronic drive-by-wire throttle.

The 3.3-litre engine qualifies as an Ultra-Low Emission Vehicle in the United States. It delivers 172kW of power at 5600rpm and 328Nm of torque at 3600rpm.

The Quad Cam V6 is matched to a five-speed electronically controlled multi-mode automatic transmission with a sequential shift function.

RX330's advanced four-wheel drive system uses Traction Control (TRC) hardware and software to control the centre differential and hence distribute torque to the four wheels.

Passive safety features include intelligent multi-stage driver and passenger SRS airbags, large-size TAP (Thorax-Abdomen-Pelvis) front seat side SRS airbags, full-length side curtain shield SRS airbags and a breakthrough 18-litre driver's knee airbag.

RX330 has the first-in-category feature of Lexus Rear View Camera on the RX330 Sports Luxury model. RX330 also has a power-closing tailgate and a versatile 40/20/40 split multi-adjustable rear seat.

Active safety features include full-time four-wheel drive, ABS anti-skid brakes with electronic brake-force distribution and Lexus Brake Assist, Vehicle Swerve Control, active traction control, auto-levelling HID headlamps and front and rear foglamps.

Standard equipment includes climate-control air conditioning, 17-inch alloy wheels, roof rails, moonroof, leather seat trim, power front seats, multi-information display and eight-speaker three-in-one audio system.

Two Lexus RX330 model grades are offered: RX330 Sports and RX330 Sports Luxury. The RX330 Sports has a recommended retail price of $69,990*, with the RX330 Sports Luxury (Option) an additional $8510*.

RX330 Sports Luxury has the added features of rear vision camera, electro multi-vision display, touch-screen satellite navigation and an 11-speaker Mark Levinson audio system.

* Prices are recommended retail prices and exclude dealer delivery and statutory charges.
